My Poems: Society’s Song (Trifextra Challenge)

July 7th, 2013 13 Comments

I’ve been following a blog called Trifecta for a while now, but I’m one of those long time readers first time writers, lol.  The following is my first submission to Trifecta’s challenge.  Usually, they require you write with a certain word.  However, for this challenge they have allowed their writers a freebee.  No word required, just make sure it’s 33 words total.  I may not win when compared to the other great entrees, but I’m going to give it a go anyway.  😉

Society’s Song

Lost in simplicity

No more thought

End of creativity

You are caught

Kept by dreams,

No longer real

Broken by regimes,

That don’t feel

Why stay strong?

It’s only our fatal society song

About the author

I’m a Goth/Hippie who loves to try new things and dabbles in anything and everything that I find enjoyment in. That can include but is not limited to, cooking, art, digital design, jewellery making, photography, gardening, nature, animals and whatever else strikes my fancy. I’m an optimistic (occasionally) perfectionist (constantly), who can be very sarcastic (incessantly), but all in good humour. :)

No worries about being a Trifecta newbie. This is a very encouraging and supportive community of talented writers. I am glad that you “gave it a go” and linked up. I thought that your poem spoke to a lot of truths about our society and our place within it. Well done. Looking forward to seeing what else you have up your creative sleeve. 🙂

Oh my gosh, I feel this so much! I work in a profession that I really don’t like very well, but at my age (pushing 50) jumping ship isn’t an option, especially in this economy. My job isn’t the worst, I’m just incredibly burned out. I went into health care because my mother wanted me to, not because I wanted to. Always a mistake.
At my age and level of curmudgeonry, I refuse to have anything to do with the snobby sites. They ain’t all that, they just like to think they are.

Very nice, especially that first stanza. Welcome to Trifecta – you’ll find folks are incredibly supportive!

I’m glad you decided to dive in and share your powerful poem. This week was my second dip in the Trifecta waters, so welcome from a fellow newbie. 🙂

welcome to trifecta . . . lovely piece.

Wonderful poem! A worthy Trifextra submission. 😀

Yea! I’m glad I have your approval. 😀 Makes me feel better to know that others feel it has a place there (Trifecta). I’ve had other sites that can be a bit snobbish when it comes to new submissions.
